Xact Link for ACT! and MYOB Server Guide

Managing the User Count

According to MYOB support, 3rd party application connections count as a user so when a 3rd party application connects to the MYOB data file it consumes a license, however MYOB has made allowances within their system to overcome this limitation and it is possible for 3rd applications to connect without consuming a license.

This is accomplished by letting all the users who want to use MYOB through the MYOB native application to log in first followed by 3rd party applications logging in last.

In our case this means that you need to make sure that everyone is logged on to MYOB prior to starting the service.

In scenarios where the user count is not an issue (e.g. when you have more licenses than users) you do not need to worry about this, however if the license count is limited then following the above process should allow all of your staff to log on to MYOB in addition to the Xact service being able to log in as well.

Please keep in mind that this limitation applies to any 3rd party application which integrates to MYOB and not just the Xact link.
